Catholic Youth organization (CYO)

Registration is open to boys and girls in grades 3-12.  

Preference for Holy Spirit/St. Joseph teams is given to Holy Spirit/St. Joseph parishioners and St. Joseph School students who register by October 20th.

The number of teams at each level is dependent on availability of coaches and number of interested players - there is no guarantee that we will have teams for all interested players, but we will do our best to connect you with an appropriate team at another parish if necessary.

If looking to coach or volunteer please complete the CASE training (needs to be done every 3 years).  A background check will also need to be completed.

FAQs

When are practices?

Practices generally begin the first or second week of November.  Each team is scheduled to practice once a week for an hour.  Some teams choose to share practices once in a while to get in an extra practice or if the gym is not available during the usual time that week.  We thank you in advance for your understanding that this is a busy place and the gym gets used for many activities, which may change the practice schedule.  

When are games?

Games begin Saturday, November 30th this year.  The regular season goes through end of February. Tournaments may be at any time, but are often held over the holidays.  Participation in tournaments in up to each individual team.  Tournament fees are not included in the registration fee, so your coach will collect an additional amount required to participate in a tournament.

What is expected of parents?

We rely on parent volunteers to coach, keep score, run the clock, set up, clean up, and keep things running smoothly throughout the season.  Safety is one of our main priorities, so these volunteer positions require completion of Creating a Safe Environment (CASE) training.  The game site manager greets guests, makes sure supplies are available, and fills in where needed or between games.  Detailed information is provided. This is very valuable role to all participants, so please consider taking a shift or two at this position.
